Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of Oct. 22:

  • The 2018 MHA Communications Retreat will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Henry Center for Executive Development, Lansing. The retreat will focus on building skills to tackle the challenges ahead — from managing a crisis to building stronger brand recognition.   • The MHA Keystone Center Fall 2018 Workshop will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids. In addition to presentations from national safety and quality experts, the workshop will feature a breakout activity allowing participants to discuss burnout warning signs and prevention methods, as well as treatment options.   • The MHA Quality & Accountability Committee will meet from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at MHA headquarters, Okemos. IBM Watson Health, formerly Truven Health Analytics, will present information on the methodology used in its 100 Top Hospitals study. A webinar option is available for those unable to attend in person. For more information, Contact Britt Bogan at the MHA. 
     
  • The race for Michigan Attorney General is highlighted in this week’s MHA Election 2018 Race of the Week feature. The weekly series, which will run until Election Day, will examine major statewide races and ballot issues facing voters Nov. 6. Members can also visit the MHA Election page for additional information or follow the MHA’s Election 2018 coverage on social media using #MIVoteMatters. In addition, MHA members can still request complimentary informational election materials geared toward healthcare workers and voters via an online order form.
