Fulfilling the Mission of Michigan Hospitals Through Michigan Harvest Gathering
Posted on September 25, 2018
With community wellness as a key priority for Michigan hospitals, participation in the Michigan Harvest Gathering helps ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital fulfill its mission to improve the health and well-being of its community. Throughout the year, employees at ProMedica Monroe support Mercy’s Angels, a local hospital-sponsored program that provides personal care items to those less fortunate. Recognizing the large need for personal care items in the community, it was a natural fit to include a request for these items as part of their Michigan Harvest Gathering collection.
The response from the staff was extraordinary. Not only did the food collection exceed the previous year’s total by 143 pounds, but an assortment of personal care items including shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, oral hygiene products, feminine care products and diapers were collected during the internal two-week campaign.
In addition to food scarcity, staff at ProMedica Monroe recognized the impact personal hygiene has on a person’s health and well-being. With their yearly participation in Harvest Gathering, the ProMedica Monroe staff carry out their mission of improving the health and well-being of their community.
