MHA, I Vaccinate Promote Back-to-School Vaccinations

Posted on August 16, 2018

Terri Adams, RN, BSN, section manager for the Division of Immunization, MDHHS, speaks during the Aug. 15 press conference. The MHA stood alongside the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS), I Vaccinate campaign representatives, the Michigan Primary Care Association and other stakeholders Aug. 15 to urge parents to put back-to-school vaccinations on their to-do lists. At a press conference, health officials from MDHHS reported that Michigan has experienced serious outbreaks of life-threatening illnesses such as pertussis, measles and flu – all of which can be prevented with appropriate vaccines.

August is National Immunization Awareness month, and the MHA has been highlighting the importance of childhood and adult immunization in its most recent blog post and on social media. The association works closely with the MDHHS and I Vaccinate to broadcast the facts that vaccines are safe and effective and are critical to maintaining herd, or community, immunity to protect the state’s most vulnerable residents. Members who would like additional resources related to healthcare personnel vaccinations should visit the MHA Vaccinations webpage. Members with questions may contact Ruthanne Sudderth at the MHA.
