MiBiz.com: State bill to license genetic counselors advances through Legislature

The MHA voiced its support of a bill that would regulate genetic counseling in Michigan in a June 9 story on MiBiz.com.

The legislation would require genetic counselors, a relatively new field medical profession, to meet minimum licensing standards established by the state in order to work with patients.

“We think it will help the quality of health care patients ultimately receive in this arena,” said Laura Wotruba, MHA director of public affairs.
