Deadline June 15 for Excellence in Governance Fellowship Applications
Posted on June 08, 2018
In Paul Keckley’s blog, he cites recent studies suggesting the biggest risk facing most healthcare organizations is inadequate attention to their ethical risks. Corporate counsel is dutiful about compliance risks, but what might be legal may not be ethical, and boards vary in the degree to which they are comfortable delving into an organization’s unwritten rules, values and culture. Left unattended, it impacts an organization’s value and reputation.
Helping board members develop critical competencies is one reason leaders should consider enrolling a board member in the 2018-2019 MHA Excellence in Governance Fellowship. The deadline for applications is June 15.
The fellowship is a rigorous and comprehensive program that delivers tools and knowledge in four strategic areas, including the principles of effective governance, monitoring accountability, and building strong relationships with the community and stakeholders. Each of the five sessions, held from July 2018 through June 2019, is led by experts in governance with a healthcare background, and MHA senior leaders will share their extensive knowledge about initiatives to prepare the field for the future.
The fellowship is designed for both new and more advanced board members. To further explore this one-of-a-kind offering, contact Erin Steward at the MHA.
