Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of April 23:

  • The MHA Keystone Center PSO webinar “Peer Support in Healthcare” will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday. The webinar will cover why peer support in healthcare is important by providing a conceptual definition of the issue and illustrating its impact within hospitals and health systems.   • The MHA Graduate Medical Education Advocacy Day will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the MHA Capitol Advocacy Center. Graduate medical education (GME) advocates are invited to visit Lansing and meet with legislators to help them understand the vital role of teaching hospitals and the benefits derived from GME funding.   • The MHA Health Foundation webinar “Grievances and Complaints: Complying with CMS, The Joint Commission and DNV” will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday. The webinar will cover patient rights in multiple areas, including care options, pain, behavioral health, medication compliance and other rights, and how The Joint Commission is monitoring compliance.   • National Hospital Week is May 6-12. The MHA encourages members to plan their own celebrations for National Hospital Week and to participate in the American Hospital Association’s social media campaign. Further details are available in the National Hospital Week Digital Toolkit.
