News to Know – Week of April 9

Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of April 9: 

  • The MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization (PSO) Safe Table: Surgical-site Infections will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday at MHA headquarters, Okemos. This safe table will allow MHA Keystone Center PSO members to examine common barriers to implementing preventive surgical-site infection (SSI) measures and data trends. Guest speaker Brian Hallstrom, MD, University of Michigan Health System, will outline current issues associated with SSIs and help guide discussion.   • The American Hospital Association is a cosponsor of the Circle of Life Awards, which honor innovative palliative and end-of-life care in hospices, hospitals, health systems, long-term-care facilities and other direct care providers. Applicants are sought that can serve as models or inspiration for other providers. Applications for the 2019 Circle of Life Awards will be accepted through Aug. 13, 2018, and up to three awards will be presented at the AHA Leadership Summit July 25-27, 2019, in San Diego.
