Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of March 19:

  • The Healthcare Leadership Academy will take place from Monday to Wednesday at the Henry Center for Executive Development, Lansing. The academy is designed to teach physicians skills associated with influence, strategic conversations and building trust, while also developing knowledge of innovative care delivery and financing models.   • A webinar on person- and family-engagement (PFE) will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday for members of the Great Lakes Partners for Patients Hospital Innovation Improvement Network. KEPRO, which provides evaluations of healthcare provided on behalf of state and federal governments and is the Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization for more than 30 states, will provide an overview of its new PFE initiative. KEPRO’s collaborative efforts with stakeholders and providers regarding this initiative will also be discussed. For more information, contact the MHA Keystone Center at the MHA.
  • The MHA Health Information Technology Strategy Committee will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at MHA headquarters. The committee will discuss Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan health information exchange measures and cybersecurity issues impacting healthcare. For more information, contact Jim Lee at the MHA.
  • Part 3 of a four-part webinar series for the Great Lakes Partners for Patients Hospital Improvement Innovation Network, “Reducing Hospital Readmissions,” will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. This series will explore reducing readmissions through topics such as: Transitional Care Management services, sepsis, behavioral health and patient-centered approaches.   • The 2018 MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization (PSO) annual meeting will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids. This is an exclusive event for MHA Keystone Center PSO members that will foster learning and conversation about a variety of patient safety topics that hospitals and health systems currently face. All MHA Keystone Center PSO member organizations are strongly encouraged to attend, as it will build upon last year’s Root Cause Analysis & Action RCA² workshops.   • The MHA Quality & Accountability Committee will meet from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at MHA headquarters, Okemos. The committee will hear an update from The Joint Commission. For more information contact, Sam Watson at the MHA.
