New Advancing Safe Care Award Will Honor Healthcare Teams
Posted on February 24, 2018
Michigan hospitals are tackling issues daily to make care safer and more reliable. Hospitals across the state are committed to transparency regarding the quality of care provided to their patients and providing world-class care to different patient populations.
The MHA’s new Advancing Safe Care Award will recognize teams of healthcare professionals within MHA-member hospitals who focus on these efforts and specifically demonstrate a fierce commitment to providing quality care to diverse socio-economic populations, lead the charge for quality improvement, promote transparency to improve healthcare, and achieve better outcomes due to a strong culture of safety.
The inaugural award does not limit the number of team members that can be included in the nomination.
Nominations for the award must:
- Show evidence that a culture of safe care was nurtured in efforts to improve
- Demonstrate how improvements that have impacted patient populations were implemented, such as the use of data to highlight improvement for disparate populations
- Reveal there was progression in how the organization deployed improvement efforts in a way that increases learning
- Display how transparency has been shown within the organization and how external communication has been established with the community
The award will replace the MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety and Quality Leadership Award and will be presented annually at the MHA Annual Membership Meeting on Mackinac Island.
Nominations for the 2018 Advancing Safe Care Award will be accepted through March 30. For more information, contact the MHA Keystone Center.
