News to Know - Week of Feb. 26

Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of Feb. 26:

  • The MHA Health Foundation webinar “Compliance with New Home Health Conditions of Participation” will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday. The webinar will examine the expanded number of patient rights, including the right to participate in the care planning process, and ways to integrate them.   • The MHA Council on Children’s Health will meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at MHA headquarters. The council focuses on issues unique to the advancement of children's health in Michigan. For more information, contact Brittany Bogan at the MHA.
  • Applications for the Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Service are due no later than April 6. The national prize honors health delivery organizations that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to community service. To recognize their outstanding contributions, the winner will receive $100,000, and up to three finalists will receive $10,000 each. More information, prize criteria, an applications cover page, and a description of the documentation that must be included with the application is included in the 2018 Call for Entries brochure. The prize is sponsored by the Baxter International Foundation and the American Hospital Association and is administered by the Health Research & Education Trust.
