MSA Finalizes 2018 Outpatient Payment Factor

The Medical Services Administration (MSA) recently notified providers of the annual update to the Medicaid outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) and ambulatory surgical center (ASC) payment factor.

Click to view the full edition.Effective for OPPS and ASC services provided on and after Jan. 1, 2018, Medicaid will pay 50.9 percent of the Medicare OPPS and ASC rates, with no area wage adjustment. This is a slight adjustment from the prior rate of 51.7 percent. The MSA adjusts the payment factor annually to maintain budget neutrality of the Medicaid OPPS and ASC payment system.
