News to Know – Week of Jan. 15

Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of Jan. 15:

  • The MHA Quality & Accountability Committee will meet from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at MHA headquarters. The committee will discuss the update for state licensing and federal certification for hospitals. A webinar option will be available for those unable to attend in person. For more information contact, Sam R. Watson at the MHA.
  • MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization (PSO) members have until Jan. 25 to submit nominations for the 2018 first quarter MHA Keystone Center Speak-up! Award. The award recognizes individuals or teams in PSO-member hospitals who prevent patient or staff harm by speaking up when they see a potential adverse event.   • The MHA family is saddened by the Dec. 26 passing of longtime MHA Keystone Center board member Lawrence J. Abramson, DO. Abramson was executive director of the Oakland County Osteopathic Medical Association for eight years and was quality director for 25 years at what is currently McLaren Oakland in Pontiac. He was a founding board member of the MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization and served as its chair in 2013. A memorial service was conducted Dec. 29 in Farmington Hills.
