Upcoming events and important healthcare news for the week of Nov. 6:

  • An MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization Safe Table focused on rural health will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Inn at Bay Harbor. The safe table is an interactive forum to discuss prevailing barriers and successes and how improvement can be made. For more information, contact the MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization.
  • The MHA Keystone Center will host a Root Cause Analysis and Action (RCA²) training from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Inn at Bay Harbor. Robust RCAs are essential to the implementation of effective patient safety improvement efforts. The RCA² training will be facilitated by Jim Bagian, MD, PE, and Joe DeRoiser, PE, CSP, and is based on the National Patient Safety Foundation’s RCA²: Improving Root Cause Analyses and Actions to Prevent Harm guidelines. For more information, contact the MHA Keystone Center.
  • A replay is available of the American Hospital Association (AHA) webinar, "Mass Casualties Preparation and Response – 'Lessons Learned' from Las Vegas and Orlando." Representatives from HCA Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, University Medical Center, and Orlando Health share how each organization trains to prepare for mass casualties, potential natural disasters and violent events, as well as lessons learned from the situations each faced. To access the webinar replay and other resources, visit the AHA's Hospitals Against Violence webpage. Members with questions should contact Rob Wood at the MHA.
