Many organizations are focused on making their websites and other online content accessible for people with disabilities and compliant with Section 508 standards. Unfortunately, much of the information available on 508 standards is written for individuals with technical backgrounds, but communications and web content managers also must be involved in the ongoing process of maintaining website accessibility.
WebAIM, based at the Center for Persons with Disabilities at Utah State University, will present a session geared toward hospital communications professionals on meeting Section 508/website accessibility standards.
This session will cover:
- Why accessibility matters.
- Current laws/policies that apply to website accessibility.
- How to get started with making content accessible.
- Partnering with IT/web vendor on the technical components of accessibility.
Attendees will come away with an understanding of expectations around Section 508 compliance/website accessibility and resources to help them get started.
There is no charge for participating in the webinar; however, registration is required.
