The MHA Health Foundation webinar series Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 2019 Conditions of Participation for Hospitals will review in detail newly finalized rules and how to make quick, effective changes to compliance plans.
Part 2 — Nursing and Pharmaceutical Services
The standards include nurse staffing, delivery of care, and preparation and administration of drugs. Suggestions will be given for effective practices surrounding:
- Requirements for a nursing care plan, including a written plan in medical records.
- Protocols for safe opioid policy approval and education process.
- Updated CMS requirements for pharmacies, including new rules for Medicare Parts B and D and changes to protected classes and e-prescribing.
- Policies and procedures that measure compliance of all staff involved in the medication process.
