Mission
Michigan Green Health Care Committee recognizes the interconnection between health and the environment. We support and encourage sustainability initiatives that improve human and environmental health, protect the unique resources of the state and strengthen Michigan’s healthcare sector.

MGHC will:

  • examine our ecological impacts
  • establish annual goals
  • promote sustainable strategies for healthcare facilities
  • propose and create joint initiatives with key stakeholders
  • develop and disseminate educational materials
  • generate new ideas and initiatives to respond to emerging needs and concerns
  • meet environmental, economic and social objectives

MGHC will work to establish a framework for Michigan’s healthcare sector to improve the health and well being of the states’ ecology and its citizens.

Current Action Items

  • 2010 Michigan Green Health Care Conference - Registration is OPEN
    October 22, 2010 - Spectrum Health
  • Michigan Healthy Food Work Group
    • This advisory group of hospital members has been formed to work on healthy food initiatives and will hold quarterly calls.
  • Pharmaceutical Waste
    • An advisory committee has been formed in conjunction with DNRE. They are currently meeting once a month.
