Serving Communities Across Michigan

Michigan hospitals consist of public and nonpublic hospitals (individually incorporated or owned and operated by a larger health system).

  • Critical access hospitals serve patients in rural areas, where the facility is the only hospital within a certain minimum number of miles. Learn about these hospitals and the unique challenges they face.
  • Michigan’s teaching hospitals are among the best in the nation, training future physicians and surgeons while caring for the ill and injured.
  • Rehabilitation hospitals work with handicapped or disabled patients
  • Children’s hospitals are especially suited to treating pediatric patients
  • Psychiatric facilities are geared toward providing psychiatric, psychological and social work services.
