This section of the Newsroom is dedicated to sharing patient safety and quality news from the MHA Keystone Center and MHA quality initiatives. 

The MHA Keystone Center is hosting two virtual workshops in September as part of its statewide Workplace Safety Collaborative. Both workshops are offered free of charge to MHA members.

In 2011, the Sepsis Alliance designated September as Sepsis Awareness Month. Sepsis is the most expensive inpatient cost in American hospitals, with an average of over $18,000 per hospital stay and more than 1.5 million sepsis hospital stays per year.

The United States Breastfeeding Committee officially designates August as National Breastfeeding Month to identify and implement policy and systems changes needed to ensure that every family who chooses to breastfeed has the support and resources they need.
The MHA Keystone Center presented Amanda Livingston, a former employee at Eaton Rapids Medical Center, with the quarterly MHA Keystone Center Speak-up! Award July 22.
The MHA Keystone Center released a new guide, Eliminating Disparities to Advance Health Equity and Improve Quality, designed to provide practical guidance for healthcare organizations seeking to eliminate disparities in care to advance health equity.
The MHA Keystone Center Speak-up! Award acknowledges individuals or teams in MHA Keystone Center Patient Safety Organization (PSO) member hospitals who raise concerns about healthcare quality and safety and prevent potential harm to patients or staff. 
The Michigan Center for Rural Health (MCRH) and the MHA Keystone Center have partnered to ensure that providers and health systems focus on preventing opioid-related morbidity and mortality.
The MHA Keystone Center honored Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital’s Erin Warman with the quarterly MHA Keystone Center Speak-up! Award July 10.
